Books and gender
Another thing that got my attention this week was that guy/woman giving birth. He is legally a man with the genetics and reproductive capacity of a woman. For me this the main problem is one factor that is becoming popular today. To get the approval of all minorities, to maximize the votes, politics are just going the easy way, the loosen definitions and keep the laws unchanged.
For me it would have much better, and also would prevented this kind of talks and even others, if one just eliminated all distinction between men and women from the law, including same gender marriages (contracts really) and clarifying that the gender is a genetic characteristic, just a difference in one chromosome, not a personality difference, looks difference or whatever. We should get our definitions right and then start thinking of how to work with them in real life.
Today was a short one, but i am tired. I need to write more, maybe tomorrow...
PS: Not the abolition of gender but a new and clear definition of it, so we can know when are calling he/she that we aren't insulting anyone. About the rights, well, we are all born equal. The books are "Joy Division Lyrics" by Ian Curtis, "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert H. Einlein, "Utopia" by Saint Sir Thomas More, "Crystal Express" by Bruce Sterling, "QED" by Richard Feynman.
